Oak National Academy – Since all schools were closed, after the outbreak of COVID-19 the Education sector has had to adapt and look at ways to communicate efficiently with students of all ages.
Can online teaching replace the classroom?
We don’t think that an online platform could ever replace the relationship between Teacher and Pupil, however, a quite remarkable teaching platform has just been launched today, Monday 20th April, called Oak National Academy.
The build has been delivered within two weeks and is a collaboration of 40 state school teachers, with input from organisations across the education sector.
The teachers come from different phases, subjects and areas of the United Kingdom.
What is Oak National Academy?
The platform offers a range of subjects including maths, English, art and languages. Teachers can use these resources to complement their own lesson planning and teaching until schools fully re-open.
Every lesson will be free to use for every teacher and every pupil.
The resources are for pupils who usually access their schools’ curriculum in mainstream education, from reception through to year 10.
No one is forgotten, as teachers working with pupils with additional needs, and teachers based in specialist settings are being provided support.
Oak National Academy is led by a senior leadership team, with a decisive passion for education, chaired by Ian Bauckham CBE. The leadership team is vast and extremely experienced.
The teachers include a vast pool of talent from State and Academy backgrounds and primary/secondary education.
Information for parents and pupils
Oak National Academy is backed by the Government and has been created in response to the coronavirus lockdown.
The online classroom offers free access to great teachers and delivers video lessons, quizzes and worksheets. Available for both primary and secondary levels, it covers a range of subjects.
Not every school will adopt this platform, so we would suggest that you follow your own school’s advice.
They will have the option to suggest if and how this online classroom is used, perhaps alongside any existing work set for pupils.
Primary (including Early Years Foundation Stage):
English (including phonics at EYFS and KS1)
Modern Foreign Languages
Foundation (covering History, Geography and Science through a topic-based curriculum)
Modern Foreign Languages
This is a very useful and helpful asset, particularly at a time when consistency and structure are required for both parents and children.
We like the design, content and speed that which this platform has been delivered is quite a piece of detailed work.
We wish this to be a resounding success. Visit Oakland National Academy for the development of adult and young minds.
