Best Noise-Cancelling Headphones

I have never used my Bose Noise-Cancelling Headphones so much since I bought them a few years ago – they are just over two years old. Granted they are not the most up-to-date model but they still work incredibly well.

So, I am on the lookout for a new pair – I thought I would venture into the world of sound and gadgets to discover what has changed since I took ownership of my Bose QuietComfort 35 (Series I) Wireless Headphones, Noise-Cancelling in black – they still pack a punch and have lasted the test of time.

Believe me, I have used them a lot and they have seen some action.

If you want a piece of tech that will help block out the noise surrounding us at the moment then I really believe that noise-cancelling headphones are just as vital as your Macbook, TV or Smartphone. They will change how you live.

So, if are looking to buy a pair then choosing the best noise-cancelling headphones will take some research for the right pair.

This is very important, as a decent pair of noise-cancelling headphones need to give you comfort, for lengthy listening – the fit on your head shape needs to be smooth, and you will know straight away if the design works, for example, my preference is on-ear padded cups – look at different models, you are looking for the ultimate comfort.

Padded earcups will help with noise cancellation – the definition of this means, the foam within the ear cups will physically block sound from entering your ears – the technical term is ‘passive’.

Then comes, ‘active’ noise-cancellation – the two design attributes will reduce external sound around you – leaving a clear and sharp experience.

With any Noise-Cancelling Headphones, the sound quality needs to be more than good, this needs to be excellent! What is a good sound? Do you prefer bass, soft, equalised or pitched? What are you buying them for? Music, streaming; podcasts, films and so on.

The advice in-store is down to a specialist – pick the right pair – try on many brands; Bang & Olufsen, Sony or Bose to experience the tone and experience different sounds – hook up your Smartphone to hear the demonstration.
